Animation

Ever since I can remember myself to be a kid, I loved watching animated cartoons and later animated movies because they were all entertainment and great fun. With growing age, my attraction began to be towards animated shows that not only provided humor but had much more than that, i.e. it was during that time when I got introduced to anime or the animated style performed by Japanese artists. The content in anime stands out because it is crafted with great care-very often, full of a wide range of emotions. Some anime reflects the complexity of life, yet offers its perspective in ways quite hard for viewers to stay away from. It was surprising how anime could capture relatable experiences and make me feel the stories were about aspects of my life.

What I enjoy most about anime is that there's no such thing as an actor or actress. Instead of falling for the show because of some appreciation for a performer, attachments build towards a fictional character. This is quite opposite to live-action movies, where people easily fall into fandom for the actors playing their roles. The engagement is centered on the characters and the story they are living in anime, which cuts away the engagement and develops it within the narratives. One can develop an emotional bond towards the characters for the length of the story, as the bond is only between the person watching and the character, but not out of here because once the story is over, so ends the emotional connection one nurtures for the characters. However, if one watches movies or a show with actual actors, they might get involved with the person playing the character and live the entire performance as that person's personality.

Anime is a unique form of interaction. Since the characters are animated, they do not have real, professional people portraying some ready-made role. Therefore, affection for the storyline is much more connected to the experience itself rather than appreciation for a specific person. The absence of real-life personalities makes it easier to focus on themes and messages conveyed in the anime. Such a sharp focus helps the audience to reflect on some ideas, such as moral dilemmas, life challenges, or personal growth. Such separation of the story from live actors makes anime separate its audience from admiration for an actor.

I find that with time, I have discovered how anime may expose some of the very profound situations of life. They present their viewers with character replete stories of struggles, triumphs, and growth, sometimes symbolizing the universal experience. Most often than not, these stories contain huge themes such as friendship, sacrifice, and perseverance, which raise the level of viewing beyond the ordinary. It becomes an opportunity for thinking deeply about situations that character’s face in ways that can be applied to life. Taking such themes into account, the anime offers something far beyond mere enjoyable value.

In a nutshell, anime has been unique in my life, giving me an emotionally rich and richly relatable art of storytelling.
